Our story

Why we exist

In 2025, something fundamental shifted. People stopped going to Google for answers and started asking ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI assistants instead. The brands that showed up in those AI-generated answers won the customer. The brands that didn't became invisible.

Traditional SEO agencies kept optimizing for page 1 of Google while the battlefield moved. We founded Gridstart because we saw the gap: brands needed an agency that understood both traditional search and the new AI citation landscape — and could optimize for both simultaneously.

Our methodology wasn't developed in theory. It was built from real client work — running audits, deploying content strategies, and measuring what actually moves the needle on AI visibility. Every framework we use has been tested and refined across DTC, B2B, and eCommerce brands.

Founder

Matt comes from a fractional CFO background, where he saw firsthand how dependent businesses are on search visibility for revenue — and how completely unprepared most are for the shift to AI-generated answers.

He built Gridstart's methodology from real client work: running AI visibility audits, deploying GEO-optimized content strategies, and measuring what actually drives citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. The 8-signal framework, 3D content matrix, and 5-agent audit system all came from hands-on experimentation and results.
